As of right now, the various insurance companies look at breast augmentations in two ways. The first way a breast augmentation is seen is as a Cosmetic Surgery procedure in which case the insurance company will not pay a dime to help cover the costs. The second way an insurance company looks at a breast augmentation procedure is that of a reconstructive surgery. There is a very thin line between the two and it basically comes down to whether you can prove the breast augmentation would be beneficial to you personal health. This is the way that a reconstructive breast augmentation is seen in the eyes of the insurance company. In general they will cover the procedure for persons who have had breast cancer in which their mammary glands have been removed and need to be replaced.

Insurance companies in general do not like breast implants and do not put the breast augmentation and improved mental health together since they think that a low self esteem caused by a person’s breast size will not cause an immediate threat to the patient’s life. There ahs also been no recorded evidence of a suicide relating to a person’s breast size and therefore it is not considered to be a threat to someone’s health.

Breast implants have been around since the 1800’s and the procedure can be considered to have been around for a longer time than most surgical procedures covered by the insurance companies. Regardless as to this fact, unless serious and undisputable evidence can be shown that the breast implants of today do not pose a threat to the body then chances are that it will be a while before any insurance company decides to pay for a breast augmentation. This does leave many people who need a breast augmentation in a bad spot, but there are a number of alternative means in which to come up with the capital to cover a breast augmentation.

There are various loan programs available for Breast implants procedures. These loans come from various sources like credit card companies and even the plastic surgeon may be able to grant a loan through various sources to help you pay for the breast augmentation procedure. You may have to spend some time inquiring as to these sources until you find one that will work for you, but if you keep at it you will find a way to cover the costs associated with a breast augmentation procedure.
